TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar in fresh controversy

Hyderabad, Nov 7: Telugu Desam Party Denduluru Assembly constituency MLA and government Whip Chintamaneni Prabhakar has raked up a fresh controversy after laying a road in the forest area abutting Kolleru lake. The lake has been declared a wildlife sanctuary under India's Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. It is also designated a wetland of international importance under the international Ramsar Convention. The sanctuary covers an area of 308 km. In the fresh controversy, Prabhakar ignored the Supreme Court restrictions and laid a one kilometre road to Komati Lanka village late last night through the reserved forest area abutting the lake. The village comes under Krishna district. When the local forest officials protested and tried to obstruct the illegal activity, the MLA is said to have told them to scoot and dared them to file cases against him. Following which, Deputy Forest Range Officer K Eswar Rao lodged a complaint with the Kaikalur police.
