Mohali, Nov 5: Left-arm spinner Dean Elgar bowled beautifully to claim a four-wicket haul to leave India struggling at 168/7 at tea as South Africa wrested the upper hand on the opening day of the first cricket Test at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here on Thursday. Elgar returned figures of 4/22 in eight overs while fellow spinner Simon Harmer (1/51) and pacers Vernon Philander (1/24) and Kasigo Rabada (1/30) claimed a wicket each. Opener Murali Vijay was the highest scorer for the hosts with 75.
