30 lakh excess Aadhaar cards in Hyd
Hyderabad, Nov 05: Hyderabad city has 1.27 crore Aadhaar enrolments as against the projected population of 97 lakh, according to Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) officials.
In Telangana, 99.2 per cent of the 3.2 crore projected population had Aadhaar numbers. Hyderabad city has 30 lakh more Aadhaar cards than the projected population.
According to UIDAI officials 10 lakh of the 30 lakh excess enrolments in the city, reside in AP. AP's population is 5.2 crore and among them 4.9 crore enrolled for Aadhaar. In Telangana 3.67 crore of the 3.72 crore population enrolled for Aadhaar.
Both AP and TS government saved huge sums of money by linking Aadhaar number with PDS (ration) and social security pensions.
