Vamsadhara, Nagavali will be linked soon: Uma
Visakhapatnam, Nov 05: Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has announced that Vamasadhara and Nagavali rivers would be linked soon.
He was speaking with irrigation officials at a review meeting in Visakhapatnam yesterday. He said that government allocated Rs 16,500 crore for irrigation projects despite deficit budget.
A retired committee headed by retired chief engineer was constituted to give a detailed report on linkage and design of Vamsadhara-Nagavali, Suvarnamukhi, Vegavati and Champavati rivers.
Government is planning to provide irrigation facilities to far-flung areas like Sompeta and Ichchapuram.
The government executed Pattiseema project within a record time of 130 days and formally linked Krishna-Godavari rivers.
