TDP leader holds govt responsible for using farmland burning
Hyderabad, Oct 26: Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao claimed that his party's government was using the incidents of farmland burning to grab the fertile lands of farmers who are against the land pooling scheme.
Sobhanadreeswara Rao and social activist P Srimannarayana visited the farmlands that were burned down at Velagapudi within the Amaravati capital region.
It may be recalled that Srimannarayana had filed a petition against the Andhra Pradesh government in the Nationa Green Tribunal recently.
During the visit, Rao and Srimannarayana spoke to the victimised farmer named G Purnachandra Rao and gathered details of the farmland burning incident.
Later speaking to the media, Rao claimed that the burning incident was the game plan of the AP government, which was trying to terrify the farmers who are against the land pooling scheme.
Demanding a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victims, Rao said there are at least 20 anti-LPS farmers in each of the villages within the capital region.
