Life term for bid to kidnap Aurobindo Pharma vice-chairman

Hyderabad, Oct 15: The Nampally Criminal Court here has awarded life imprisonment to a person who tried to kidnap Aurobindo Pharma vice-chairman K Nityananda Reddy. The accused Obulesu was an ex-Greyhounds constable and he had stolen an AK-47 rifle from the police. Obulesu tried to kidnap Nityananda Reddy at KBR Park in Banjara Hills on November 14, 2014. The accused fired eight rounds but Nityananda Reddy managed to escape by pushing the rifle barrel up and away. In the melee, Obulesu left behind a bag and fled away. The bag had some bills for purchases made in a prominent cloth store. On the basis of CCTV footage in the shopping mall Nityananda identified the accused.
