2 DEOs suspended, one for sex abuse, the other for negligence

Vijayawada, Oct 15: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has suspended two District Education Officers (DEOs). While Kurnool DEO Suprakash was suspended over sex abuse row, Krishna district DEO Nageswara Rao was suspended for irregularities and negligence in rationalisation of schools and transfers of teachers. Similarly, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Srikakulam Project Director Ramachandra Reddy was sent back to his parent department, Sri Krishnadevaraya University in Anantapur, for neglecting duties. This is the first time action was intimated on three senior officials of the department at a time. The Minister said that stringent action would be initiated against the teachers who had submitted fake certificates to secure promotions. The officials failed to reply to questions posed by the Minister. The government will write a letter to the Centre opposing detention system. The Minister said that it would take two weeks' time to get clarity on DSC-2014.
