National Minimum Wages Act soon: Bandaru Dattatreya

Kolkata, Oct 13: Union Labour Minister Bandarau Dattatreya has said that Centre will soon come up with National Minimum Wages Act which all the state governments are bound to implement. Dattatreya was speaking at CII's national council meeting. He said that Centre would soon enact a National Minimum Wages Act and make it mandatory for all the states to implement the legislation. He said that trade unions are asking a minimum wage of Rs 15,000 per month. The minimum wage per day is Rs 160 now. The Minister stressed the need for labour reforms. It may be noted that trade unions were strongly opposing several laws enacted by the NDA government.
