Officials disconnect power as farmers refuse to part with land for SEZ

Kakinada, Oct 12: With each passing day a sense of alienation is growing among the farmers. Officials reportedly disconnected power supply to farmers who had refused to give their land for Kakinada Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The farmers today staged protest against the indifferent attitude of officials at Uppada Centre in Pithapuram town. The farmers later submitted a memorandum to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The farmers alleged that officials were threatening them. TDP highlighted irregularities in acquisition of land for Kakinada SEZ during 2014 general elections but had not commented on the issue after coming to power.
