Bapatla Agri College on the boil, closed till Oct 25

Bapatla (Guntur), Oct 09: Bapatla Agriculture College was closed till October 25 following protests by students. Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University Registrar Satyanarayana today declared that the college will be closed till October 25. The students are staging protests for the past nine days and bowing to the pressure, officials transferred an Assistant Professor. Madukuru Surya Rao, a MSC Agriculture student of the college committed suicide on September 26 and since then the students took to the streets. The issue was not resolved even after the university Vice-Chancellor A Padma Raju visited the college and held negotiations with students. The students sought transfer of five faculty members but officials transferred only one. As the students intensified protests, the college and hostels attached to it were closed.
