Central Varsity serves chicken to students on Gandhi Jayanthi

Hyderabad, Oct 02:The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), a Central University located in Hyderabad, has stirred a controversy by serving chicken to the students staying in the varsity hostel on Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2. Consuming meat and liquor is banned on the occasion of Gandhiji's birth anniversary (Gandhi Jayanthi). Gandhi was an advocate of 'Ahimsa' (Non-violence) and he spent his entire life denouncing and campaigning against non-vegetarian food and alcohol. The university has always been in news for wrong reasons. Even the students were taken aback when they were served chicken during lunch. The university management drew flak from all quarters for hurting the sentiments of Gandhians and for violating constitutional norms.
