Khairatabad Ganesh: Laddu distribution to be stopped from next year

Hyderabad, Oct 02: The Hyderabad police has announced that the world famous Khairatabad Ganesh laddu prasadam distribution would be stopped from next year. Speaking to the media here, DCP Kamalasan Reddy said that several devotees were being injured during distribution of the laddu prasadam every year. He said that the event may also cause stampede. The DCP said that he would ask the organisers to stop distribution of laddu prasadam to the devotees from next year. Chaos prevailed at the venue for some time, as a large number of devotees rushed at a time for prasadam. Police resorted to lathi charge and brought the situation under control. Several persons were injured in the melee. It may be noted that the 6,000 kg laddu was prepared at Tapeswaram in East Godavari district. The organisers planned to distribute 3,000 kg laddu to the devotees and to send the remaining part to Tapeswaram.
