CRDA to be reorganised into eight zones

Hyderabad, Oct 2: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will soon have eight zonal offices in addition to the main office at Amaravati. The move is aimed at improving planning and controlling development activities in the capital region. The central planning area in the capital city area will witness maximum development. The government has released Rs 9 crore to construct Zonal offices. The names of zones, head quarters, population (lakhs) and area (Sq Kms) are as follows: Central Zone - Vijayawada-17.61-854; South Zone-Tenali-8.59-1.159; South West Zone-Guntur-12.81- 1,266; Western Zone-Sattenapalli-3.79-897; North West Zone- Nandigama- 2.95-790; North Zone-Nuzivid-3.18-837; East Zone-Gannavaram- 2.26-534; South East Zone-Vuyyuru-6.89-1,071 and Capital City-Amaravati- 1.07-217. The CRDA covers two municipal corporations, seven municipalities, two nagara panchayats and 829 villages and its jurisdiction is spread over 7,420 sq km.
