Macherla tense as YSRCP, TDP activists clash during Ganesh immersion procession

Macherla (Guntur), Sep 27: Tension erupted in Macherla town of Guntur district as YSRCP and TDP activists clashed during Ganesh idol immersion procession in the town today. TDP Macherla in-charge Chalama Reddy organised Ganesh Idol immersion procession on the main road in the town. YSRCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy also led a procession in the same route. The rival parties activists exchanged heated arguments, came to blows at pelted stones at each other. Several persons were also injured in the clash. Police resorted to lathi charge and brought the situation under control. Large contingents of police were deployed in the town to prevent any untoward incident.
