Snakes in operation theatre, surgeries deferred
Guntur, Sep 22: It seems that health officials have not learnt any lesson even after rats killed an infant at Guntur government hospital.
Pandemonium prevailed at the hospital for sometime yesterday after a venomous snake was spotted in the operation theatre. On seeing the snake, the doctors and staff members ran helter-skelter.
The Chief Surgeon reported the issue to the hospital superintendent who in turn deployed personnel to catch the snake. Doctors deferred surgeries and directed sanitary staff to clean the operation theatre.
Another snake was sighted in Radiology Department on the day.
On Sunday, Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao made a surprise visit to the hospital and warned the officials of serious action if rodents were spotted on the hospital premises.
