Telugu men kidnapped in Libya safe: AP govt

Hyderabad, Sep 17: Three Telugu men who are still under the captivity of terrorists in Libya are safe, the Andhra Pradesh government said today. The state government has started all efforts to secure the release of abducted Telugu persons. While two professors Balaram and Gopikrishna were kidnapped on July29, Ramamurthy was kidnapped on Wednesday. AP Bhavan officials today telephoned Azhar Khan, India's ambassador to Libya and asked the latter to take necessary steps to secure the release of kidnapped Telugu persons. Azhar Khan informed the officials that they were finding it difficult to reach the abducted persons as terrorists destroyed electricity and telecommunication facilities in Sirte. Indian embassy officials started negotiations with local leaders in Sirte to ensure well being and safety of Telugu people.
