Amaravati township in 20 acres, govt to decide on works soon

Hyderabad, Sept 14: Andhra Pradesh government is speeding up its works to construct a township on 20 acres of land with all facilities under Amaravati capital region in order to accommodate at least 10,000 employees at the earliest, according to sources. It is the desire of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's government to start governance activities at the earliest from the new state capital, sources said. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) had already prepared plans to develop a 5 lakh square feet of built up area to accommodate government buildings, staff housing and commercial structures, sources said. The state government wants to lease out the 20 acres of land to a private entity for 99 years to develop the area under the united developer model, sources said. Under this proposal, the government plans to give the right to sell 50 per cent of the 20 acres of land to the contractor, sources said. However, the contractor will have the right to sell the land for a period of 99 years only. Top government officials have said that the government is getting ready to take a decision on these proposals and begin the works at the earliest.
