No question of giving up lands to AP govt, say Machilipatnam farmers

Hyderabad, Sept 12: Farmers of Machilipatnam region today declared that there was no question of handing over their ancestral farm lands to Andhra Pradesh government for the construction of a port. With a view to convince the farmers to part with their farms lands for the construction of a major port in the region, AP minister Ravindra led a delegation conprising MP Konakalla Narayana and senior officials to Machilipatnam. During a meeting with the official delegation, farmers of Tapasupudi and Mandinapudi in no uncertain terms told the delegation that the government cannot take their farm lands at any cost. Meanwhile, Minister Ravindra assured the farmers that lands were being taken for the development of the state and no farmer will face any injustice in the process. He urged the farmers to list out their fears and doubts and assured them that he would convey the same to the Chief Minister so as to arrive at a solution for their problems.
