ACB teams raid Transport dept. checkposts across AP, TS

Hyderabad, Sept 8: Anti-Corruption Bureau in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh formed eight teams and has been raiding several border checkposts of the Transport Department in TS and at least two in AP since late Monday night. The ACB teams stopped vehicles, checked if officials had forced drivers of goods vehicles to pay bribes for a smooth transit and verified all documents at the checkposts, according to reports reaching here. So far, ACB officials seized Rs. 58,000 excess cash from the officials at some of the checkposts, sources said. In Mahbubnagar, an ACB team raided the Alampur border checkpost. Some of the other checkposts that were raided included Nalgonda (Alampur checkpost), Khammam (Aswaraopet and Kalluru), Adilabad (Adilabad and Vankidi), Nizamabad (Madnur) and Medak (Zaheerabad). According to latest reports, ACB also raided checkposts in Palmaner in Chittoor ditsrict and Tada in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
