Farmers suicides: Compensation reduced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, says Jagan
Hyderabad, Sep 03: YSRCP chief and Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy has announced that he would soon visit kin of the farmers who had committed suicide due to financial distress. He was speaking in a debate on drought in Assembly here today. He said that 190 farmers committed suicide in the state and among them 101 hail from Anantapur. He read out the district wise data on farm suicides. He urged the government to provide all necessary help to the farmers. He alleged that government reduced compensation from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for the kin of farmers who had committed suicide. He said that even that compensation was not provided to the victims families.
