14 killed in Malaysia boat capsize

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 3: At least 14 people died after a boat carrying about 100 illegal immigrants capsized on Thursday off the western coast of Malaysia in the Malacca Straits. According to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, some 20 people have been rescued so far, the Malaysian Star reported. An agency spokesman said the immigrants from Indonesia were trying to return to their country by the boat. The incident occurred at around 10.30 a.m., which was witnessed by a fisherman near the area. Search operations are continuing.
