Chandrababu seeks special status, special package to AP

Delhi, Aug 25: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked the Centre to accord special status and special package to the state so that AP can have a level-playing field on par with neighbouring states. He along with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley addressed a press conference after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chandrababu said that he asked the Centre to provide financial assistance to the state still it strengthens economy on the lines of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. "There would be no use if Centre accords special status and withholds incentives. So I urged the Centre to accord both," Chandrababu said. He alleged that Congress party divided the state in an unscientific manner and was trying to create obstacles. He asked the government to implement all the provisions of AP State Reorganisation Act.
