Taslima Nasreen's visa extended for one year
Hyderabad, August 21: The visa of exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen today has been extended for one year.
The Indian government took the decision following Taslima's request for the extension of her visa. This extension of one year is with effect from July 23.
Taslima expressed her gratitude over the news. The 62-year-old writer has left Bangladesh in secrecy in 1994 following threats by Islamic fundamentalist groups and has been living in exile.
In 2014, the Indian government had extended her visa for one year till August this year. As the time limit concluded with this month, the government extended for one more year.
