Man secures 167 credit cards using fake documents

Hyderabad, Aug 19: The Cyberabad police have arrested a fraudster who secured 167 credit cards by submitting forged documents. The accused Jaganmohan Reddy hails from Warangal district and he studied up to class X. He obtained 199 voter IDs and 196 PAN (Permanent Assessment Number) cards with different names and different addresses by submitting fake documents. Within six months, he secured 167 credit cards and swindled Rs 65 lakh. The police also arrested 13 others who cooperated with him in the crime. According to reports, his house resembled a telephone exchange with tens of landline and cell phones. The accused obtained photos from internet cafes and photo studios. He used the photos to obtain voter IDs with different names and addresses. After obtaining voter IDs, he used to apply for PAN cards and then he used file Income Tax returns. Jaganmohan applied for credit cards using voter ID, PAN and IT returns. On the basis of complaints lodged by HDFC and American Express, police took up investigation and nabbed the accused.
