IBM to help improve Vizag's crisis management system

Visakhapatnam, Aug 18: Global IT major IBM will review Visakhapatnam's emergency management system and provide recommendations to improve it. IBM Smarter City Challenge programme was launched by the company at Visakhapatnam today. Under the initiative, a team of six IBM experts will help the city to develop an emergency communication system to disseminate information during and after a disaster. IBM's Smarter Cities Challenge helps cities to redress pressing challenges like job creation, transport, public safety, revenue, health care and others. The IBM has selected 16 cities and regions from across the world for the project for the next two years. According to reports, each consulting engagement has a commercial value of US $ 5,00,000. Eight hundred top IBM experts will deliver services under the programme. The initiative will help the city to be better prepared for any natural disaster in the future.
