'Nandamuri House' in ruins

Hyderabad, August 16: Once bubbled with life and energy, the 'Nandamuri House' in Chennai is now in dilapidated condition. It is where legendary actor and former chief minister late NT Rama Rao lived. Many people, after having Lord Balaji darshan in Tirupati, used to go Chennai to have a glimpse of their favourite actor, NT Rama Rao. After seeing the actor with or without make-up, they return. This house, at Bajulla Road in T Nagar, Chennai, once abuzz with movie people and fans, is now abandoned. Most of Telugu actors used to live in T Nagar when Tollywood industry was in Chennai. NTR purchased the house (no: 59/28) and made changes as per vastu. He lived in that house from 1960 to 1980. Balakrishna got his first offer as hero in this house only. Later, NTR shifted to Hyderabad. His elder daughter Lokeshwari lived in that house for some time and she also vacated. The house is now strewn with mementos, old photos, make-up kits, film reels and others. while the premises were filled with empty liquor bottles and garbage thrown by neighbours. According to sources, NTR family members thinking to sell this house of 8,000 sq. ft area. Builders said the house costs about Rs 20 crore.
