Modi first Indian PM to visit UAE in 34 years

Hyderabad, August 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first PM to visit the Arab state after a gap of about 34 years. Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had visited the country in 1981. He will arrive in Abu Dhabi today and visits Dubai on Monday (August 17). During his two-day day trip, Modi will visit the iconic mosque, Sheikh Zayed in Abu Dhabi today, the first day of his trip. Narendra Modi's visit is aimed at enhancing cooperation in energy, trade, cultural and social fronts. He will meet UAE Prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Jayed and discuss bilateral issues. Meanwhile, the Indian community is gearing up to give a great reception to the Prime Minister at Dubai International Cricket Stadium grounds on Monday.
