Don't close BRAOU study centres in AP, HC tells TS
Hyderabad, Aug 13: The Hyderabad High Court today directed the Telangana government not to close Dr BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) study centres in Andhra Pradesh.
It may be noted that the university comes under the organisations listed under X schedule of AP State Reorganisation Act.
Both Telangana and AP governments should share the expenditure. But recently Telangana government announced it would close down study centres in AP as the latter had not released funds for running the university.
The court directed both the state governments to reach an agreement. While Telangana AG argued that Rs 13 crore expenditure was incurred for maintenance of study centres in AP for one year, Andhra Pradesh AG argued that the study centres had corpus funds of over Rs 400 crore and urged the court to divide the funds between the two states on population basis.
