100 anicuts,check dams on River Godavari: KCR

Hyderabad, Aug 12: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has taken a crucial decision on utilisation of Godavari river water. At a meeting here today, the Chief Minister said that 100 anicuts and check dams would be constructed across River Godavari. According to reports, other than Tummidihatti and Medigadda projects, the government wants to construct small anicuts and check dams on Godavari on the lines of Maharashtra. The CM said that each anicut or check dam would cost Rs 2 to 3 crore and directed the officials to prepare proposals. He believes that it is not mandatory to obtain permission for constructing small anicuts and check dams on the river.
