Diamond mines in Mahabubnagar: Study
Hyderabad, Aug 11: Mahabubnagar also know as Palamuru reminds us of drought and migrations. But a study conducted by Osmania University revealed that the district is virtually sitting on a diamond mines.
Researchers from Centre of Exploration Geophysics, Osmania University, have identified 21 potential diamond zones in Mahabubnagar district and some villages in neighbouring Raichur and Gulbarga districts of Karnataka.
At present six government and private organisations are carrying out exploration activities in the district. The potential diamond zones exist at Narayanapet, Damaragidda, Ammireddypalli and Nidugurthi villages.
The research team said that diamond and gold resources also exist at Chandur in Nalgonda district.
