AP puts mega power project on hold
Hyderabad, Aug 11: The Andhra Pradesh government has put on hold the 4,000 MW Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) proposed at Nayunipalli in Prakasam district.
According to sources, the APGENCO is not evincing interest on the thermal plant as government scrapped Vanpic Projects and there is no assurance on coal supply from Union government.
The Centre has sanctioned two UMPPs each with a capacity of 4,000 MW. But even the Krishnapatnam UMPP works were going on at a snail's pace and this compelled the officials to put the proposal in cold storage.
APGENCO CMD K Vijayanand too clarified that the project was kept on hold as there was no word from the Centre on supply of coal.
