Youth who tried self-immolation for special status dies

Chennai, Aug 09: The youth, who attempted self immolation for special status to AP at Tirupati yesterday, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai today. The victim Munikoti was a Congress activist and he lost his parents during childhood. In the dying statement given to police, Munikoti said that he committed suicide for special status to AP. He attended the Congress party meeting at the city yesterday, poured kerosene and petrol over his body and set himself on fire. Immediately he was rushed to Ruia hospital and from there he was shifted to Vellore. Today morning he was shifted from Vellore to a hospital in Chennai. According to reports he actively participated in Jai Samaikyandhra movement.
