Supreme Court refuses to entertain DK Aruna's petition
Delhi, Aug 07: The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a petition filed by senior Congress leader and MLA DK Aruna.
The MLA filed the petition seeking a direction to Telangana State government to give due representation to women in Cabinet. It may be noted that Telangana Cabinet has no representation of women.
The court said that it cannot issue directions to the Centre and State governments on this matter. It would have been better had the government given due representation to women, the court opined.
Meanwhile, DK Aruna maintained that she was not disappointed with the verdict. She said the petition has stirred a nation-wide debate on representation of women in Cabinet.
