Rishiteswari case: Hearing on bail plea posted to Aug 10

Guntur/Hyderabad, August 7: Guntur court posted its verdict on the bail petition of the accused in the Rishiteswari suicide case to August 10. Counsel of the accused Mahati Shankar argued that Charan and Srinivas are not involved in this case. "In fact, the duo were not present in the university at the time of the incident. They were dragged into the case due to the group rivalries in the varsity," the advocate stated. The advocate further said that Rishiteswari hadn't mentioned any names in her suicide note and alleged that the police filed a case against Charan and Srinivas, based on their imagination. Mahati Shankar requested the judge to inquire other persons who were involved in the case. Meanwhile, YK, counsel on behalf of victim's parents requested the judge not to grant bail to the accused. Acharya Nagarjuna University students Dumpa Hanisha, Jayacharan and Narala Srinivas were accused in the case, where B.Arch first year student Rishikeswari allegedly committed suicide due to the harassment of seniors. The victim's father Mondi Muralikrishna filed a petition seeking the court to add him as a defendant in the case. The petition came up for hearing on Thursday. Muralikrishna's counsel YK reminded the legal point that law has to accept the right of the victims to arrange advocates of their choice. After hearing YK argument, Justice Gopichand issued orders accepting to include Muralikrishna as second defendant in the bail petition.
