She taxis in Hyderabad from Aug 15

Hyderabad, August 5: Hyderabad city will now have 'she taxi' from August 15. In the first phase, 12 she taxis will be introduced and later another 50 will roll out. Telangana Minister for Transport Mahender Reddy said plans are afoot to introduce a total of 100 she taxis. But due to non-availability of women drivers, it was decided to launch at least 50 taxis. The transport ministry gave training to 18 women drivers last year. Cars will be given to the 12 women drivers who were trained in the first phase. These she taxis will ply as per the needs and timings of software women employees working in the IT zones. The Telangana government has allotted Rs 36 lakh for the she taxis. Maruti Desire VDI cars were selected for the purpose and for easy identification, these cars will be in white and pink colours.
