Pak PM Nawaz Shariff escapes attack

Hyderabad, August 3: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reportedly escaped an attack on him on Sunday night when he was returning to Islamabad. He was coming back from Murree, the hill resort, to Islamabad with his wife Kulsoom and daughter Maryam. According to the initial reports, a car tried to overtake the PM's convoy and his car. The car was reported to have a fake number plate also. The security staff immediately took the driver into custody. The driver was identified as Hafeen Ur Rehman, former Pakistan air force officer, who was also going with his family. Pakistan sources said that it was not an attack on Pak PM but the retired air force officer tried to overtake the convoy mistakenly and hit the car. Pakistan officials said security has been beefed up in the country in the wake of police encounter of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorist leader Malik Ishaq.
