Helmet compulsory in AP from tomorrow
Hyderabad, July 31: Two-wheeler riders have to wear helmets compulsorily from August 1 onwards. The AP Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao took the resolution during a meeting with Road Safety Committee on Thursday.
Krishna Rao suggested of launching campaigns to provide awareness among the public on hospitals that they have to provide free medical services and surgeries if needed to the victims of road accidents.
The licenses of government or private hospitals can be cancelled if they refuse to provide treatment to the injured.
The AP government decided to constitute a Rs 10 crore fund for road safety. Also it was decided to form a fund for setting up of trauma care centres on roads.
Krishna Rao suggested R&B officials to identify accident-prone places and turnings and to correct them. Special vigilance wings will be set up on national and state highways.
