Phone-tapping case: High Court stays trial court order
Hyderabad, July 30: The Hyderabad High Court today stayed the orders issued by the Vijayawada Metropolitan Magistrate Court in phone-tapping case. The court accepted a petition filed by Telangana government and adjourned hearing in the case for four weeks.
The HC ordered telcos to submit phone call data to Vijayawada court in a sealed cover and to sent it from there to High Court Registrar through a messenger. Noted jurist Ram Jethmalani represented Telangana government and senior counsel Venugopal represented AP government. Ram Jethmalani argued that Vijayawada court has no authority to seek phone call data.
