'Issue non-bailable warrant to Modi'
New Delhi/Hyderabad, July 27: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its efforts to bring IPL former commissioner Lalit Modi back to India, who has been taking shelter in London.
He was not appearing before the court regarding money laundering case.
The advocates of ED on Monday requested the special PMLA court to issue non-bailable warrant on Modi.
It is already known that a case was filed against Lalit Modi for money laundering during his tenure as IPL commissioner. Modi escaped to London after his post was ousted and cases slapped against him and has been staying there since 2010.
Despite several summons issued by ED, he never turned up for hearing, quoting a threat to his life in India. In this context, ED resorted to the court to issue non-bailable warrant to Modi.
Meanwhile, Lalit Modi's tweets became a headache to BJP. He dragged Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Central Minister Sushma Swaraj as helping him regarding visa. There are allegations that both the BJP leaders were financially benefited for helping Modi.
