Godavari ghats flooded with devotees

Hyderabad, July 25: All the Godavari ghats in both Telugu states were flooded with thousands of devotees on Saturday, the last day of the Pushkaralu. Devotees have been thronging the ghats from early hours to take the holy dip and to perform the rituals to their elders. More rush could be seen in Konaseema, Yanam, Kundaleswaram and other areas in Andhra Pradesh. On the concluding day, special programmes were designed in Rajahmundry. AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu gave a call to all the residents to light the lamp at 7 pm today. In Telangana also, people were rushing to take the holy dip as today is the last day. The special darshan in Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam was cancelled today due to the heavy rush. The closing ceremony will be held at 6 pm in Basara. On this occasion, the processional idols would be taken out in a procession from Basara temple to the ghats. Telangana Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Jogu Ramanna will attend this event.
