HC wants to speak with Pratyusha
Hyderabad, July 17: The High Court issued orders to Telangana government on Friday not to discharge Pratyusha until further orders. The girl was tortured by her step-mother and she is presently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The High Court said her future plan would be decided after a detailed study of her case. It felt that though the 19-year-old girl was physically healthy, she is mentally unwell.
Following the Court orders, Special Government Prosecutor (SGP) met Pratyusha in the hospital at LB Nagar and made inquiries. He discussed with the hospital doctors over her health conditions.
The High Court directed the police to produce the girl before the court on Monday, if possible.
On Friday, it questioned the girl's uncle and Deputy Collector Satish Chandra about her family members. The Court ordered the police to produce Pratyusha's father Ramesh and maternal uncle advocate Sai Pratap before the court on Monday.
The High Court said it was a pity that nobody tried to rescue the girl from her step-mother even though her uncles were deputy collector and advocate and none was coming forward to claim her. The Court directed the officials to see that 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhavo' scheme applies to the girl.
