Ashok conspiring on Begumpet Airport: TRS

Hyderabad, July 17: TRS MP Dr B Narasaiah Goud alleged that Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju was hatching a conspiracy to handover Begumpet airport to Indian Air Force. At a press conference here, the MP said that he would raise the matter in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. Narasaiah Goud alleged that Ashok was favouring TDP government in AP. He reminded that Ashok was the driving force in naming a terminal in Shamshabad International Airport after NTR and drafting proposals to handover Begumpet airport to IAF. The MP reiterated that Begumpet airport was constructed during Nizam rule and it belongs to Telangana. He revealed that the State government was planning to set up Aviation University on the premises of the airport. The MP said that he would expose the propaganda of TDP government and would bring Palamuru lift irrigation scheme to the notice of Centre. Commercial operations were stopped in Begumpet airport after Shamshabad Airport was opened. As per an agreement reached with GMR group which constructed the airport, the state government should not construct a new airport within a radius of 150 km from the Shamshabad airport but KCR announced that airports would be developed at Shamirpet, Warangal and Adilabad.
