RBI asks people not to write on currency notes
Mumbai/Hyderabad, July 17: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requested the public not to write on the watermark window (the white space) on the currency notes.
The RBI said in a statement, that the important security features will be marked on that space.
It is common practice to several people to write phone numbers, names, addresses or messages on the empty white area on the currency note.
The RBI said a key security feature will be on the watermark place and that distinguishes it from a fake note. If anything is written on that space, then it would be difficult for common people to identify whether it is a real note or a counterfeit currency.
