Naidu not against Palamuru project, says Revanth

Hyderabad, July 10: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders were spreading false statements that AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was against the Palamuru Lift Irrigation Scheme, Telangana TDP MLA Revanth Reddy alleged. Addressing the media at Kodangal in Mahbubnagar district on Friday, he explained that the AP government, in its letter to the Centre, only sought for Palamuru DPRs. But never asked to stop the project, he added. He suggested, as per State Bifurcation Act, both the Telugu States should equally distribute DPRs, which ever project constructed on Krishna River. According to Revanth, the AP government officials wrote a letter to the Centre on June 11. In that letter, "Telangana government had issued funds also directing the officials to start construction of Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation and Nakkalagandi Ethipothala. But as per State Reorganisation Act, to start any project, the government should submit DPR to Krishna River Management Board and seek permission." The AP officials only requested to know whether the Telangana government had informed about the projects and asked for the DPR. When Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts would be benefitted with Palamuru project, he questioned "Why a bandh call was given only in Mahbubnagar district?" he questioned. He lashed out at TRS leaders that they were observing bandh with political motives, thereby causing inconvenience to the public. "Never in the history that a government had called for bandh. After coming to power, TRS government itself is giving bandh calls," he criticised.
