Vasundhara recommended Lalith Modi for Padma Award: Congress
Jaipur, July 9: Former Union Minister Sachin Pilot alleged that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje recommended Lalith Modi’s name for Padma Award in 2007.
Quoting media reports, Sachin Pilot said that Raje directed Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) to recommend Lalith’s name for the award for his efforts in development of cricket and services to sports sector. He alleged that the news reports have exposed the nexus between Raje and Lalith.
Sources said that RSSC has written a letter to Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) on July 27, 2007 to give necessary details and documents for recommending Lalith’s name to Padma Award.
Later, Rajasthan’s Sports and Youth Affairs Principal Secretary wrote a letter to the Centre recommending the award for Modi. But the Centre did not consider Lalith’s name for the award.
