Sanjush, son of Jana Sena Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh, has responded to the fatal road accident that occurred near Inorbit Mall in the city. He stated that the incident did not happen due to his negligence and was purely an unfortunate accident.
According to Sanjush, immediately after the accident he acted responsibly by personally shifting the injured young woman, Bharathi, to the hospital. He later went directly to the police station and informed the authorities about the details of the incident.
The accident took place on August 16 near Inorbit Mall under the Madhapur police station limits. Sanjush, who was driving an Aston Martin car, hit Bharathi (26) while she was crossing the road. She sustained serious injuries and was shifted to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Bharathi was working as a sales executive at the Lifestyle store in Inorbit Mall.
Police, in their preliminary investigation, found that the accident occurred due to Sanjush driving the car at high speed and in a negligent manner. Madhapur police have registered a case against him under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing death by negligent driving. Since the offence is bailable, police have issued notices to him. If convicted under this section, the accused can face imprisonment of up to five years along with a fine.
Sanjush clarified that he is fully cooperating with the police investigation. He revealed that after the accident, police conducted breath analyser, urine and blood tests on him, and all three reports came negative. He also stated that he would extend whatever help he can to the family of the deceased Bharathi.
It may be recalled that Sanjush’s father, Lingamaneni Ramesh, was recently elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh on a Jana Sena Party ticket.
