TS Mee Seva website hacked, Rs 1.5 crore siphoned off

Hyderabad, July 9: Nigerian cyber criminals hacked the Telangana State government’s Mee Seva website and siphoned of Rs 1.5 crore money. Mee Seva provides 352 civic services like payment of bills, taxes, issue of certificates and others and the services charges are remitted to the concerned departments periodically. The Mee Seva does its transactions through Axis Bank account. The Nigerian cyber criminals hacked the Mee Seva website and took the site into their control four days ago and they sent mail through official ID to the bank to divert funds to three bank accounts in Delhi. As the bank officials received mails for fund transfer through official IDs, they diverted the funds. They Mee Seva higher officials noticed that Rs 1.5 crore money was transferred to three bank accounts in Delhi and lodged a police complaint. The Cyber Crime police confirmed that the website was hacked. The police found that the website was hacked from Delhi and local hackers and two Nigerian gangs were involved in the crime. Usually Mee Seva funds are transferred through cheques, but this was the first time money was transferred through online.
