Fee details to be included in websites

Hyderabad, July 6: University Grants Commission (UGC) recently issued orders directing all the universities and colleges within their purview, to include detailed information about courses, fees and others on their websites. According to the latest orders, colleges and universities should provide details of 14 issues in their websites for the convenience of students. Details of scholarships to students, academic calendar, lecturers' profiles, information of various departments, other facilities in the educational institutions, name and other details of nodal officers etc also should be included. The UGC also directed to submit a report on the actions taken in this regard, within 15 days. The UGC has taken this initiative in the wake of complaints from students and parents that educational institutions were not disclosing the fee details before admissions and collecting exorbitant fees from them after joining the colleges. UGC officials said they have identified 21 fake universities in the country and their details were kept in the website ugc.ac.in. It should be noted here that there are no fake universities in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. UGC granted hereditary recognition to 19 colleges in the country that have completed more than 100 years. UGC would extend financial help to these colleges for their development. This list does not include colleges from AP and TS states.
