Andhra: Man accused in brother-in-law’s murder commits suicide with family
Amaravati, July 14 (IANS A man, who was the main accused in the murder of an agriculture officer, allegedly committed suicide along with his family in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district on Tuesday, police said.

Kudumula Harikrishna, his wife and their two children died by jumping in front of a goods train at Singarayakonda Railway Station. Police found the bodies of the couple and their young children on the tracks and shifted them to a government hospital for postmortem examination.

Harikrishna hails from Thotapalli RV Kandrika village in Gudur Mandal, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district. He was identified based on the Aadhaar card recovered from the place where their bodies were found.

The death was initially believed to be the result of a cardiac arrest, but subsequent investigations revealed that Srihari was murdered by Harikrishna, who had allegedly administered a lethal injection reportedly used to kill dogs. The murder was allegedly related to a family property and a loan amount that Srihari had lent to the accused.

The police took up the investigation after Srihari's wife Lavanya lodged a complaint in the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) on July 6 that his body bore injury marks, but the Circle Inspector of Buchireddypalem Police Station neither registered a case nor questioned the suspects.

Superintendent of Police Anita Vejendla ordered an investigation, which revealed that Srihari was murdered. The investigation confirmed that Srihari was killed by his own brother-in-law, Harikrishna. Two accused who assisted him in the murder have been arrested.

As police stepped up the investigation into the case, Harikrishna went absconding.

He had reportedly released a selfie video stating that some people were deliberately spreading false allegations against him.

In an unprecedented move, the Nellore district SP on Monday ordered the transfer of all 23 police personnel posted at the police station over their alleged negligence in the investigation. Circle Inspector Matangi Srinivasa Rao was attached to the Reserve unit.
