'Mortgaged gold, farmers passbooks safe'
Guntur/Hyderabad: Andhra Bank DGM Girish Kumar assured that ". . . there is no need to worry about farmers' passbooks and mortgaged gold." All the lockers will be brought to the Pandaripuram branch by Thursday evening and customors can check their belongings. The DGM said currency notes worth about Rs 30 lakh were burnt to ashes in the fire. It should be remembered here that fire broke out at the main branch of Andhra Bank in Chilakaluripet in Guntur on Tuesday. Along with currency notes, 10 computers, furniture and files burnt to ashes. According to sources, short circuit in the store room might be the reason for the fire.
